Hugging Face has released version 2.0 of the SafeTensors model format, establishing a universal binary specification for safely loading neural network weights into browser sandboxes without memory duplication.
By leveraging the WebAssembly Memory64 proposal and the Origin Private File System (OPFS), web applications can now stream multi-gigabyte neural weights directly from disk into GPU memory without blocking the browser UI thread or incurring deserialization overhead.
