Firefox 142 ships with a built-in 1-billion parameter language model running locally via WebAssembly, providing page summarization and translation with zero telemetry.

Mozilla has officially released Firefox 142, introducing an embedded local assistant designed from the ground up for strict user confidentiality. Powered by the open-source Llama-3.2-1B architecture compiled to WebAssembly, the assistant executes entirely inside the browser's sandboxed process.

Unlike competing commercial browser implementations that route page content through proprietary cloud endpoints, Firefox 142 performs summarization, grammar checking, and language translation without transmitting a single byte over the network.

At Luminus, we share Mozilla's philosophy that user calculations and processing should never leave the local client device.
