TypeScript 6.0 Released: Native Rust & WebAssembly Engine Speeds Compilation by 10x
Microsoft has officially released TypeScript 6.0, featuring a ground-up rewrite of the type-checking engine in Rust, capable of compiling massive enterprise codebases in milliseconds.
Microsoft has unveiled TypeScript 6.0, marking the most significant architectural milestone in the language's history. The core typechecker, parser, and code emitter have been completely rewritten in Rust and compiled to high-speed WebAssembly binaries for cross-platform execution.
In large monorepos containing over 50,000 files, type-checking times dropped from 42 seconds to under 4.1 seconds. IDE language server response times for auto-completion and refactoring now consistently clock under 15 milliseconds.
